Elizabeth's Garden Corporation

Elizabeth’s Garden is a non-profit corporation in honor of the late, Elizabeth Posey-Kimbrough founded
in June of 2022 by Jillian Elizabeth-Leigh (Kimbrough) Rouse. She was my grandmother and a great
inspiration to my life as well as countless others. Her drive and passion for God and helping others was
all the inspiration needed when creating Elizabeth’s Garden. The garden representative of Elizabeth
because that is where she spent most of her time, 3 seasons out of the year, when she was not helping
someone. Her garden did help others though; she gave away the vegetables she labored over to
community and church members. She loved her garden and during the summer when my cousins and I
would spend the hot summer days playing in the driveway, she would be in her garden, humming and
singing. Her garden was not just a place for plants to grow and be harvested, it was a place for us to also
grow and ultimately learn. We did not want to learn about gardening, but we learned educational things
and most importantly, we learned about the bible. That shaped me into the person I am today. Seeing
her give back to others in need or just because she felt like she needed to, has been the purpose and

reason for Elizabeth’s Garden Corporation.

Mission: It is our mission to improve the lives of those who live with mental illness, substance use, and/or homelessness in order to enhance their lives in a healthy and productive way.

 

Vision: Elizabeth’s Garden Corporation proposes that residents within their communities will have improved mental health, substance use, and living outcomes based upon the staff engagement, community resources, and events provided.

 

Purpose: To fulfill the late Elizabeth’s vision of helping others create a life they can fully enjoy.

 

Goal: Increase mental wellness, end substance use, and improve living conditions.
